How to get your homestay on Google Maps and Google Search
HostBooking · · 8 min read
To show up on Google, your homestay needs two things: a Google Business Profile to appear on Google Maps, and a website with clear content to appear in search results. Create a free profile at business.google.com, add your booking link, then verify your website in Google Search Console to see which keywords guests use to find you.
Part 1: Get on Google Maps with Google Business Profile
- Go to business.google.com and sign in with your homestay's Google account.
- Enter your homestay name exactly as it appears on your sign. Choose the category "Homestay" or "Guest house".
- Drop the pin in the right spot, then enter your address and phone number.
- Add your booking website in the Website field, and in the Bookings field if you have one.
- Verify the way Google asks you to (video, phone or mail).
- Upload 10–20 real photos: the front of the building, rooms, bathrooms, the view and shared spaces.
Part 2: Get your website into Google Search
Your HostBooking site already has titles, descriptions, a sitemap and structured data for every property and every room. Your job is to tell Google the site exists and keep the content good:
- Go to search.google.com/search-console and add a property using URL prefix with your site address.
- Choose the HTML tag verification method and copy the code in the meta tag.
- Paste the code into your HostBooking admin under Integrations → Google Search Console verification, then save.
- Go back to Search Console, click Verify, then submit your sitemap: /sitemap.xml.
- Do the same with Bing Webmaster Tools (the Bing Webmaster verification field). Bing is the source ChatGPT uses for search.
Content that helps your homestay rank
- Area names in your descriptions: "homestay in Đà Lạt near the market", "private cinema room in District 7".
- A separate description for each room, not the same text copied over.
- Good-quality photos with clear descriptions.
- Real reviews: ask guests to leave a review on both Google Maps and your site.
- An English version if you host foreign guests.
How long does it take to show up on Google?
Your Google Maps profile usually appears once verification is done, within a few days. Google usually picks up a new website within a few days to 2 weeks after you submit the sitemap. Ranking at the top for competitive keywords like "homestay Đà Lạt" takes a few months and plenty of good reviews.
Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to put my homestay on Google Maps?
No. Google Business Profile is free. Be careful with services that charge you to "get on Google Maps".
I already have a HostBooking website. Do I need to do extra SEO?
The technical side is already done. What you should do is write descriptions with your area name, keep your photos up to date, ask for reviews and verify your site with Search Console.
